Bonfire Night 2016

Saturday 5th November 2016
Three Acres – Hindersitch Lane

We had a great evening at the Whatstandwell Bonfire; the weather was ideal, dry and bright with light winds. The bonfire was huge this year and we were a little worried about getting it going, but we shouldn’t have worried the dry October meant that it lit easily and burned out quickly. The fireworks were fantastic giving a great display which went on for several minutes. Over 100 people came along and to enjoy the event as well as sample the burgers and hot punch. We also had a couple of Guys for the fire from Crich Carr Breakfast Club and local children. Thanks go to Myra and Richard for allowing us to hold the event in their garden and also to the Family Tree for running such a great BBQ

Please don’t bring your own fireworks or sparklers

This year the 5th November falls on a Saturday so there will be a few bonfires on the same night. Our village bonfire and firework display will be one of them, so we are hoping for a good local turnout. There will be a Guy competition, and anyone bringing one along for the fire will receive a small prize.

As usual the bonfire will be at Three Acres, thanks to Richard and Myra Hodgkinson.
Everyone is most welcome. We are going for a bigger box of fireworks again this year so we are once again suggesting a minimum donation of £3 per adult.  Not bad when you think that one reasonable rocket could cost that!

The fire will be going for 7:30 p.m. as will the punch and BBQ, followed by the  fireworks, followed by the Guy judging.
